Dickens Elected to Genesco's Board of Directors

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ben T. Harris, chairman of Genesco Inc. (NYSE: GCO), announced today the election of Marty G. Dickens, president of BellSouth in Tennessee, to the Company's board of directors.

Dickens, 56, was named president of BellSouth's Tennessee operations in April 1999. He began his career with BellSouth in 1969 and held a number of positions in the company's comptroller's, public affairs and regulatory departments. He joined BellSouth International in 1992 as an executive vice president. In this role, Dickens was a member of the senior leadership team responsible for overseeing the management and growth of BellSouth's foreign operations. He served on the board of directors of the BellSouth operations in Brazil, Venezuela, Panama, Nicaragua, Israel, China and Denmark. A North Carolina native, he has a bachelor's degree from East Carolina University and a master's degree from Georgia State University.

Dickens currently serves on the board of SunTrust Bank, and is a member of the Belmont University Board of Trustees, Meharry Medical College Board of Trustees and Saint Thomas Health Services Foundation, all in Nashville.
