At Genesco, it is our goal to be inclusive by embracing all cultures, ethnicities, backgrounds, orientations, and perspectives not only amongst ourselves but also with our shareholders, customers, vendors and communities where we operate.
In addition to compliance with statutory and measures such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act, Genesco actively supports and sponsors organizations such as the Human Rights Council that promotes equality, the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund fighting for racial justice, Nashville PRIDE and the Nashville LGBT Chamber of Commerce advocating for the LGBTQIA community, the YWCA and Women’s Fund supporting women’s rights, among others. Not only are these initiatives good business practices, they are integral to our core values.
Nashville Business Journal’s Best Places to Work
Genesco was named by the Nashville Business Journal as a “2020 Best Places to Work” finalist. The employee survey measures 10 key engagement categories, including team effectiveness, trust in senior leaders and manager effectiveness. The award recognizes companies that boast employee satisfaction, high retention rates and a healthy bottom line. Genesco was one of five honorees named in the “Giant Category,” which includes companies with 250 employees or more.
One example of why Genesco is a great place to work includes its successful equality initiatives, including the recent announcement that it received a score of 100% on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2020 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation’s premier benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality. Genesco joins the ranks of more than 680 major U.S. businesses that also earned top marks this year.
